We’re often told there’s only one way — that there’s just one pill to choose from. Or worse when your doctor says, “the cause is unknown.”
Yet even after taking the prescription, or doing “all the right things” you still get that feeling that something isn’t right.
Something inside is saying there is an alternate way through.
In the past decade, research is showing us how lifestyle choices affect our genes, a field called epigenetics. Interestingly, Ayurveda has been using this approach — altering lifestyle choices — for people to reach optimal health for over 5,000 years. This ancient science explains that feeling healthy is possible when you eat, live, and treat your body in ways that are in harmony with nature and with your unique constitution.
What all this means is that you have the power to change your lifestyle and consequently your genes by making different choices! Ones that are more aligned with your unique physical and mental constitution.
When you’re dealing with subtle yet complex issues, you need an individualistic approach and a place to be fully heard! My mission is to empower you to fully understand your symptoms and integrate Ayurvedic practices to create a balanced lifestyle that fosters longevity and lasting joyfulness.
When your body is out of balance, disease and illness can creep into your life. Getting to know your personalized health needs with the right treatment plan will keep you balanced and at ease.
I want to provide that for you — using the right modern approach to this ancient health system.
My journey started when I was diagnosed with psoriasis, an autoimmune disease that began at the age of 12. In my early teenage years I began to realize the connection between stress and its rather immediate effect on my skin.
It was then that I also began to notice some of the negative effects of the topical treatments I was prescribed as well as the lack of answers and understanding within the medical field about autoimmune diseases.
My unanswered questions were a blessing in disguise paving the path for me to seek out different answers and solutions. By the time I was in college, I noticed how my diet and lifestyle choices impacted my overall health and well-being. And being the curious person I am, I wondered — how else can stress, diet, and lifestyle impact my mental and physical health?
My desire to explore this connection further grew and around that time I started practicing yoga, studied psychology and began to work with a team of people including a nutritionist, a fitness coach, and a lifestyle coach.
I realized I had more control over my health than I previously thought! I had the choice to either stick with the topical medications and other more intrusive therapies or explore an array of knowledge from these more holistic practitioners.
It opened my eyes to so many approaches out there each one with its benefits and further clarifying for me that health is not one-size-fits-all.
These various modalities continued to show me how health includes mental health, emotional health, physical health, and spiritual health.
After graduating from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, I moved back home to the Bay Area where I worked in the field of corporate marketing and events for a few years.
During this time, the stress of working in Silicon Valley began to take a toll on my health once again. I knew deep down that I wanted and needed to work in the holistic health field. I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives and share the knowledge I gained not only from my personal health journey but from my holistic teachers.
My first step was to gain clarity on my purpose, so I decided to deepen my yoga practice and join a 200-hour yoga teacher training program in the Sri Vidya tradition. Unknown to me at the time, this yoga teacher training would change the course of my life as I knew it. I reignited my passion for self-care, self-development, and education. It was then that I got introduced to Ayurveda, often explained as the sister-science to yoga. In 2018 I took a leap of faith and began studying Ayurveda at Mount Madonna Institute and became a certified Ayurvedic Practitioner in 2022.
It is my goal to share these ancient teachings of Yoga and Ayurvedic medicine to anyone searching for a holistic approach with the hope of bringing greater health, happiness and sense of fulfillment to their life.
